OUR CASE STUDIES

CASE STUDY #1: Innovative Police Vehicle

WHO: Poznań University of Economics and Business SPV

WHEN: February 2018 – August 2019

PROBLEM: Polish Police use only single-function, limited functionality vehicles. Technical dialogue does not give a chance to create vehicles tailored to the needs of officers.

OUR ACTIONS: Together with the Polish Platform for Homeland Security and Germaz Car House we worked for over a year to develop groundbreaking vehicle. We moderated the cooperation between Police and constructors, we designed and conducted prototype tests.

RESULTS: A patrol-riot vehicle with over 35 proprietary solutions. The car was tested at 10K by 50 officers, obtaining a final score of 9.2/10 points. The Police Headquarters took into account our conclusions in the van purchase procedure.

CASE STUDY #2: Decontamination Robot

WHO: Bialystok University of Technology SPV

WHEN: April – September 2020

PROBLEM: COVID-19 has caused concern among workers working in confined spaces. There was no quick and effective method of sterilizing office space on the market.

OUR ACTIONS: In May 2020, a scientist from the Bialystok University of Technology came up with an idea for a decontamination device. Cooperation with the ZURAD company was established. PB scientists developed a device demonstrator and then a prototype for the International Defence Industry Exhibition.

RESULTS: RobUV decontamination robot with a mobile UV module based on air ionizing, UV-C emitters. Defender award at MSPO 2020. SPV is currently preparing a “box version” of the solution.

CASE STUDY #3: Smartula

WHO: Gdańsk University of Technology SPV

WHEN: November 2019 – August 2020

PROBLEM: Increasingly frequent cases of theft, poisoning, attacking bee colonies in rape crops and orchards. No effective warning system for beekeepers.

OUR ACTIONS: A team of young programmers and automation specialists from the Gdańsk University of Technology has started work on a system of energy-saving apiary monitoring devices. An analysis of sensory data using Artificial Intelligence methods was planned.

RESULTS: A network of 11 devices collecting data critical for the supervision of a bee swarm (movement, temperature, sound). Entry of an investor interested in using the device on the construction market.

CASE STUDY #4: The Hospital Help Initiative

WHO: Poznań University of Economics and Business SPV

WHEN: March – June 2020

PROBLEM: Major deficiencies in the provision to Polish hospitals, related to the spread of the coronavirus disease. Broad, but uncoordinated and chaotic assistance from citizens and enterprises.

OUR ACTIONS: We decided to create a system to help hospitals declare they needs, donors to declare their help, and coordinators to collect and deliver. We have built a 30-person team of scientists, programmers and social activists who worked pro-bono for 3 months.

RESULTS: A nationwide, Salesforce-based system of social support for the health care, used by 700 hospitals and nursing homes, and a network of 360 local coordinators.
